Migrating from VMware to Proxmox VE
We move your virtual infrastructure to Proxmox VE, machine by machine, without stopping production.
Why you are considering it
You choose the hardware
VMware certifies a list of compatible hardware, and when a model drops off it, the vendor’s calendar decides when you replace it. Proxmox VE is Debian: the constraint is the Linux kernel’s, which is far wider. The servers you have keep working for as long as it makes sense to keep them.
Licensing changed
After Broadcom acquired VMware, the licensing model was reworked. Many organisations found themselves with costs they had not budgeted for, and bundles that include more than they use.
What you actually need
Backup, storage and high availability often need extra licences or products. On Proxmox VE they are included.
How we do it
Assessment
We look at what you have: how many machines, which storage, what depends on what. That tells us what can move straight away and what needs care.
Plan
We set the order, the downtime windows where they are needed, and what happens if something goes wrong. You know in advance what happens and when.
Migration
In groups, starting with the least critical systems. Most machines move with no downtime, or a few minutes of it.
Verification
Every machine is tested before the old one is switched off. The VMware side stays up until you are satisfied.
Reusing your hardware
The servers you free up need not be scrapped: where their specifications allow, they rejoin the cluster as Proxmox VE nodes, or become backup targets. We tell you up front which ones are suitable and which are worth replacing.

How much do we actually save?
It depends on your CPU count and what you licence today: without seeing your numbers, any percentage would be made up. Send us the current setup and we will work it out for your case.
Does everything have to stop?
No. We work in groups, and most machines move with a few minutes of downtime or none. Any windows we do need are agreed beforehand.
What if something breaks afterwards?
The VMware environment stays running until the migration is verified. If one machine has trouble we roll that one back, without touching the others.
Who does the work?
We do, with our own engineers. We are a Proxmox Silver Partner and Red Hat certified on Ceph. The critical work is not subcontracted.
Do you handle the licences?
Yes. If a Proxmox VE subscription is needed we arrange it during the migration, and explain which level makes sense for your installation.
